About Us
“ANBU ULLANGAL” in the regional language means “Loving Hearts” - is the name of our home which gives shelter to the needed. “Anbu Ullangal” is registered under the Trust Act of 1961 in the year 1992 and is protecting orphans, deserted women, old people, physically handicapped and the mentally ill for the past eighteen years.
It was started by Mr.Satya Samuel who had a broader vision and love for those who were deserted by the society and were not recognized by the society. In the beginning he started “Anbu Ullangal” with four or five old people who were deserted by their families at Satankulam, a village in Tirunelveli Dt, TamilNadu, India. Then he found that there were orphan children too, who needed care and concern.Mr.Satya Samuel who was basically a school teacher understood the needs of children.
Out of his own earnings he bought 1 acre & 75 cents of land in koottampuli, a small village at Tuticorin Dt, TamilNadu India and started building the home with the help of local philanthropists. The home started growing slowly and has grown much now. It has 99 inmates at present. The home is run with the help of local people. As the home is situated in rural area and run with local funds, the home is not receiving any government funds from the State or Central Government.

The home has been built in 1 ¾ acres of land with 4750sq.ft concrete building – separate staying rooms for boys and girls, bed rooms for old people, rooms for the mentally ill, a kitchen and a newly built dining room. Toilets and bathrooms have also been built separately.
Apart from these activities public functions are conducted here during Christmas and New Year and also during national festivals. Sometimes the home gets surplus items such as dress materials, books, note books etc from the public which are distributed to the poor children of our village. Thus we maintain good relationship with the public.
